The Prodigy of Business

Commerce can be defined as sum-total of all process necessary for the removal of hindrances in making trade possible. That was commerce, but what is business and how it came into existence, though it has been a talk for centuries. From scriptures, epics, and cultures we have heard and understood different facets of this philosophy called business.

In medieval times, as ends met the wants, this philosophy did not exist. People survived by sheer strength and consciousness. There was no need for support, dependence or trade. Once population increased in geometric proportions the means were not meeting the ends. This led to the formulation of groups and leaders. They set up certain policies to follow and practiced these norms to exchange and trade articles.

This movement led to the origin of barter system. As people lacked the consensus on articles to exchange, this concept showed up its demerits. Innovation of a single point of trade, which was named as money was the result of these discrepancies. This started the era of business.

As a matter of fact this noble concept was formed and formulated for the well being of the society. The primary purpose was for making the basic necessities available for all the strata of the society. Here business was free from all the stipulations of socio economic principles. It was born for a noble cause and served the purpose of serving the human race.

Once this medium (money) started gaining power, it started flexing its muscles, and manifested itself as self-serving capitalist economic model. As money overtook the crown, the purpose of business shifted from social well-being to self-being. Time taking its turn, though the human race has developed their standard of living, with more luxurious facilities and advancements, the human race became more and more fragmented and turned nations against nations where in money is an implicit factor.

From a different perspective, of the sense organs that rule this body, greed was the most beneficial at this circumstance. Man became a slave to the power that money could purchase and blindly started accumulating it. In this kaliyuga, it has been said that kali is where wealth is and that has been evident. In a survey conducted on the happiest nations, the most economically weaker nation topped the list for happiness (http://www.hvk.org/articles/0400/25.html), as they could enjoy and appreciate what ever they bought, where as others could seek satisfaction and happiness only on unprecedented costly items.

As the phrase says, history repeats itself, in the wake of twentieth century, globalization and liberalization has forced the trade related organizations to rethink their philosophy, goal and purpose of their business. Once again the nations are uniting in trade, hope this will lead to a new age of harmony and peace.

Monopolistic multinational corporations are slowly giving way to Small community based self-sustaining profit centers. Which have been initiated and is a sign of the upcoming division of power and well being. Most of the companies who used to privately owned have come up with stock option plans, making the employees share the profit of the organization. Business process outsourcing has given way to the uplift and better utilization of opportunities from the economically backward nations, bringing an all round uplift in the global economy.

Let this be the thought and deed of the upcoming youth, to utilize the trade for the benefit of the society. This does not mean in anyway that they should not make profit, but this simply means that, they should follow the ethics and standards, by way supplying the best product and best service as it is done by one human to another. We should practice social well-being along with self-being.

I believe this article would liberate the minds of at least some and lead the business cycle to enrich and rejuvenate the exponential factor of well-being and human uplift.

Conundrum of a blog on Shivaji

This is about how a blog, Shivaji – The Boss of crap in IBN Live caused turbulence.

Our ardent hero worship or due to the nobleness of the individual behind the character, the melodrama seems to be quiet fascinating, or should I say rather disappointing. The sub-continent that marks an idol for the whole world by governing 28 states with 28 different languages and still keeping up with the pace of economic development, has given up its rational thinking or critical reasoning to a blog which portrays a persons opinion of a movie he/she watched amidst circumstances.

The interesting point which gained my attention is how people involve personal ego into a non-relevant situation. Rather than looking at the contents and expressing a comment on how a blog has been written, we are here, questioning a person’s perception on a movie. I would think this is probably a media gimmick to popularize and attract attention on a subject matter.

Shivaji – The Boss could be a very good movie or a very bad movie, both these instances does not matter here, and Rajnikanth as a person played a character in that movie, and his existence in that movie is only in the form of that character Shivaji and the movie being good or bad, does not make him good or bad.

What we come across from this drama is that we Indians still live on the belief and worship, though we try to copy the western style and way of living. This character is ingrained and unchangeable. The manifestation of basic Indian culture and tradition is what plays as the ground rule in taking us to this level of worshiping each other. Moreover in a country like India were there are so many rituals, religious practices, gurus, saints, fakirs and philosophers, this should be expected and understood.

Transformation of Indian thought process from traditional worshiping to the new age radical thinking is utopian at this point. Or should I say it would spoil the inert feel or belief we have for a respectable character.

3 get death sentence for 1993 Mumbai blasts

This has hit the headlines of news today.
Circumstance that India is in right now, where substantial evidence could be bought with muscle power and money power, is it really advisable to give a capital sentence.

Punishment has been a mode of conditioning that our society follows to keep people away from doing wrong things. Here this conditioning could be in 100 different ways, depending on situation and circumstance.

The objective or morale of this is to restrain people from doing barbaric activities. What concerns me here is giving a death punishment, would that really help in anyway? We have a very strong and good judicial system, but can this judicial system see beyond the eyes and ears present at the court room?

I remember of a short story of Leo Tolstoy, in which he portrayed a fruit selling boy with his cart left unattended for some valid reason, and a thief running down the street finds this cart and hides his knife which becomes inevitable evidence before the court of this boy being the murderer. He gets sentenced for life after being considered his age. Here the court sentences based on the evidence they have seen and heard, but the fact is it was situation built on circumstance. The story ends with the actual thief coming into the prison and accepting the murder charges leading way to freedom for this lad who has spent half his life in jail. Here the lad was set free though very late, while was not given capital punishment which gave a ray of hope.

This story describes a circumstance. Our law says not even a single innocent should be punished even if 10 convicts are left free...

The pace in which our country is advancing, where nothing you see and hear are certain, belief has become a imaginative story, should capital punishment be a part of our judiciary system?

The conditioning of capital punishment is put forth to initiate fear in people so that they do not commit similar treacherous deeds, but in this age where we have suicide bombers, does this really form a conditioning of the right kind?

It is for all of us to react and understand, what makes these people different, they are also human, they do have flesh and blood, but their mental attitude …….? A psychiatrist could better explain. With the advancement and development happening to our country we also need change in our attitude and behavior toward our fellow beings. We need to grow over cast, creed, nationalism and understand the brotherhood of man. This would be a conditioning that would make a difference.
